Engagement/Recruitment Chair

Amanda Gilliam, LMFT, RPT™ serves as our Member Engagement/ Recruitment Chair. She is responsible for strengthening the TNAPT by fostering member engagement, recruiting new members, and building relationships with professionals, students, organizations, and communities throughout Tennessee. This role develops strategies to increase membership, enhance member involvement, and promote awareness of play therapy and the Association's mission.


Duties Include: 

  • Develop and implement an annual membership growth and engagement plan aligned with TNAPT's strategic goals.

  • Ensure TNAPT meet Outreach compliance for APT branches/Gold Branch Status

  • Lead initiatives to recruit new members.

  • Coordinate outreach efforts to universities, graduate programs, healthcare organizations, schools, community agencies, and professional associations throughout Tennessee.

  • Develop strategies to improve member retention by increasing opportunities for participation, networking, leadership, and volunteer service.

  • Provide quarterly engagement and recruitment reports to TNAPT Board

  • Welcome new members through orientation materials, welcome communications, and opportunities to become involved in the Association.

  • Collaborate with the Communications Chair and Social Media Chair to promote the benefits of TNAPT membership and highlight member accomplishments.

  • Coordinate membership recruitment activities at conferences, trainings, community events, and professional meetings.

  • Maintain relationships with educational programs and encourage student membership and leadership development.

  • Develop initiatives that recognize member contributions, volunteer service, and professional achievements.

  • Monitor membership trends, participation levels, and recruitment outcomes, providing regular reports and recommendations to the Board.

  • Collaborate with other committees to identify volunteer opportunities that increase member involvement.

  • Assist with membership drives, referral campaigns, and special outreach initiatives.

  • Maintain organized records of recruitment efforts, outreach activities, partnerships, and engagement initiatives.

  • Facilitate a smooth transition of committee resources and outreach materials to the incoming Chair.

  • Serve as a point of contact for TNAPT members engagement, recruitment, and outreach.


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Promote an inclusive, welcoming, collaborative, and vibrant  culture that encourages active member participation.

  • Strengthen relationships between TNAPT and professionals, universities, community organizations, and allied mental health associations throughout Tennessee.

  • Identify opportunities to expand awareness of play therapy and TNAPT's educational, networking, and leadership opportunities.

  • Encourage leadership development by connecting members with committees, volunteer opportunities, and future Board service.

  • Support diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility by ensuring outreach efforts engage professionals and communities across the state.
